Wise Up PR Secures Gold Stevie Award Winner At 2024 American Business Awards
Award Winner In 2024 American Business Awards®
Global PR agency Wise Up PR is delighted to share that it is the winner of a Gold Stevie® Award in the Communications/PR Campaign of the Year - Communications Research category in The 22nd Annual American Business Awards®.
The campaign submitted for consideration was Wise Up PR's work with consumer research platform, Attest, for its 'Make Guesswork Illegal' campaign in 2023.
Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned”, The American Business Awards are the U.S.A.’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the US are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.
More than 3,700 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including Startup of the Year, Executive of the Year, Best New Product or Service of the Year, Marketing Campaign of the Year, Thought Leader of the Year, and App of the Year, among others.
The work for the 'Make Guesswork Illegal' campaign began in earnest in September 2022.
Founder Jeremy King was a scientist before he launched Attest. During a listening tour by Wise Up PR, he detailed how he relies on empiricism, exploring hypotheses, and using data to make decisions. When he moved to the world of business, he was shocked by how little a role hard data played in critical business decisions and the messes left behind by decisions devoid of research.
With this critical insight, the Wise Up PR team focused on messaging to weave Jeremy’s passion for the scientific method right into the heart of the campaign. During Wise Up’s sourcing session with Attest’s CEO, he outlined how lack of data and reliance on guesswork were “nearly illegal” in science. With these authentic words, the strapline for the program was born – Make Guesswork Illegal.
To be the lynchpin of this campaign, Wise Up PR advised to create one major asset – a video – that could bring Attest’s campaign fully to life - with a dose of well-intentioned humor. Not only this, it recommended that CEO King should don a lab coat in the video to walk us through the Guesswork Crime Lab, where the most salacious brand crimes are investigated for their lack of consumer forethought.
The media relations campaign focused on industry leading data from Attest's platform regarding guesswork and the campaign captured an audience of millions, with 149 pieces of earned media coverage being achieved, reaching over 4.5 million estimated coverage views and an average domain authority of 68 highlighting the quality of the coverage.
It also marks Wise Up PR's third Stevie Award in a row, having won gold in 2022 and 2023. With this year's win, the communications agency has also secured back-to-back Gold awards in the Communications Research category.
In feedback received from the judges, one commented on the campaign: "Executed with in-depth research and out-of-the-box ideas. Great strategy and tactics. Brilliant."
Another judge said: "Wise Up PR's innovative campaign demonstrates the power of communications research to not only drive media relations success but also to effect meaningful brand repositioning and audience engagement."
Wise Up PR founder David Claxton said of the award: “We’re over the moon that our work with Attest and the ‘Make Guesswork Illegal’ campaign secured a Gold Stevie® Award. To win three Stevies in three years is a testament to our team’s commitment and hard work, as well as the trust placed in us by amazing clients like Attest.”
More than 300 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners.
“While growth in much of the world economy has recovered slowly from the COVID-19 pandemic, the American economy continues to show remarkable resilience and growth,” said Stevie Awards president Maggie Miller. “Our 2024 Stevie winners have contributed to that successful recovery through their innovation, persistence, and hard work. We congratulate all our winners in the 2024 ABAs and look forward to celebrating their achievements during our June 11 awards banquet in New York.”
