Wise Up PR wins 'distinction' at 2024 Communicator Awards
Wise Up PR is proud to announce its recognition as a 'Distinction' winner at the 2024 Communicator Awards. The agency earned this award for its collaboration with consumer research platform Attest on the 'Make Guesswork Illegal' Campaign.
The Communicator Awards is sanctioned and judged by The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed brand and media, interactive, advertising, and marketing firms including: GE Digital, Spotify, Condè Nast, Disney, Accenture Song, Superfly, Fast Company, Digitas, and many others.
Entries are reviewed to evaluate distinction in creative work. In determining Excellence and Distinction Winners, entries are reviewed on their merits against a standard of excellence considering the category entered. A category may have multiple winners, or may have none. Entries are scored on a 100-point scale by the jurors. Excellence Winners receive a score of 90 or above and Distinction Winners receive a score of 70 to 89.
This year The Communicator Awards celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. They received over 3,000 entries from across the U.S. and around the world from ad agencies, digital agencies, production firms, in-house creative & communications professionals, graphic designers, design firms, and public relations firms.
“The entries into this season of The Communicator Awards were such a great representation of our three decades celebrating innovation and creativity in all forms of communication. I couldn't have wished for a more diverse and brilliant body of work to be placed in our jurors' capable hands,” said AIVA Managing Director Lauren Angeloni. “I want to congratulate all of the honorees for their well-deserved wins. I also would like to extend sincere thanks to our jurors, who always put so much time and heart into the review process.”
This is Wise Up PR's third award win for its work on the Make Guesswork Illegal Campaign, having secured a Gold Stevie Award at the 2024 American Business Awards, as well as a Hermes Creative Award.
Founder Jeremy King, a former scientist, launched Attest after becoming dismayed by the lack of empirical data in business decision-making. During a listening tour with Wise Up PR, he explained how he relied on empiricism, hypothesis testing, and data to guide his choices. Transitioning into business, he was astonished to see how seldom data influenced critical decisions, often leading to problems caused by insufficient research.
Recognizing this insight, Wise Up PR crafted a campaign that sought to incorporate this scientific method into business decision-making. During a sourcing session with Attest's CEO, he highlighted how in science, guesswork and inadequate data would be "nearly illegal." These powerful words led to the creation of the campaign's memorable tagline: "Make Guesswork Illegal."
Wise Up PR, the campaign's strategic linchpin, proposed a primary asset: a video that would capture X's message with a dash of humor. They suggested that Jeremy don a lab coat in the video to lead viewers through the Guesswork Crime Lab, where the most egregious brand "crimes" are scrutinized for neglecting consumer insights.
The media relations campaign emphasized Attest's industry-leading data on the dangers of guesswork. The resulting campaign reached millions, achieving 149 pieces of earned media coverage, with an estimated 4.5 million views and an average domain authority of 68, demonstrating the quality of coverage secured.
"Securing a further award for this campaign highlights how impactful 'Make Guesswork Illegal' was. A massive thank you to the incredible team at Attest for the support and trust placed in us. It is a true honor to achieve a Communicator Award for this brilliant campaign."
It is the agency's second Communicator Award, following a win in 2023.
